Maybe... I'm hardly qualified to say, but don't you think with the advent of the PC, power is being returned to the individual? Industry isn't neccessarily going away, its just being redefined.

With exponential population growth, we might fill the entire universe up with humans in an instant! In this model, called the Fetus Super Nova Model by yours truely, worrying about retirement and the economy will be be the bussiness of only the fastest super computer. But even she will only have to worry about it for less than a trillionth of a giga second. After that the cosmos will explode with placenta and every micro meter of it will be filled with hungry children. Heating up, they will then create a black whole/worm hole/vagina, and a new universe will be born. You can worry about the economy of that universe. I am.
