Music in the magnetosphere

Alright, if I do not see auroras tonight or tomorrow, I will never post alerts again. Spaceweather.com says:

AURORA ALERT! A coronal mass ejection (CME) is racing toward Earth and it could spark a severe geomagnetic storm when it arrives--perhaps tonight (Sept. 14th and 15th). People everywhere should be alert for auroras....

If this incoming CME does hit Earth's magnetic field as hard as forecasters expect, auroras could appear in places where they are seldom seen: California, Arizona, Texas and elsewhere. Stay tuned for updates.

Space Weather also provides audio of the coronal mass ejection from yesterday. Well... kind of. I prefer the University of Iowa's collection of hauntingly beautiful space sounds. My favorites: Earth Chorus and Saturn's Bow shock (brought to you by Cassini).

I should really take up low frequency radio as a hobby... what could be better then spending the wee hours of the morning stargazing while listening to auroral chorus and solar wind?

Not yet, sadly. Too many city lights... but I do know of some good hills outside of Bellingham.
